For my assessment in Reading I used the scores of the STAR Reading tests that my students take. They took one at the beginning of the year and the other one the week of October 14. They take this test at the beginning of each quarter. Each student has their own personal AR goal based the how they do on this test. I believe this is a good idea, it goes back to differentiation, some students can read at a faster pace then others so they will be able to do more points. The graph below show the students scores. As you can see most of the students scores' have risen since the beginning of the year. One of the students got a lower score on the 2nd test, and I feel it was because he rushed it. I did notice when I put him on the computer to test that he went back to his seat rather quickly. We have had some problems with him because of his tendency to rush and guess at his tasks. There was another person that scored lower on the 2nd test and it really surprised me because in the beginning she was the top of the class. We will be monitoring her to see what the problem is.
I have added another graph of my ESE student. I am glad to say that he went up 107 from his first test. This is very exciting because one of his weakest points is Reading. He is always saying he can not do it, but once he sees this he will be really exciting and see that he can in fact do it.
